waste managementurban restoration productive cityscape publications

Human history is rich in examples of productive cityscapes, i.e. cities cultivating large proportions of their food crops, mainly vegetables and fruit, within the city perimeter, yet modernity tends to disregard them.

There is a need to address the issues of

  • national and global food security, quantity- and quality-wise,
  • recycling of liquid and solid bio-wastes,
  • improvement of air quality in cities,
  • water resource management in cities (groundwater quality, rainwater harvesting, stormwater and surface water management), and
  • mitigation of negative climate change impact.
We shall be happy to get involved in planning and designs and programs where these issues are addressed and integrated aesthetically into urban habitats.
